Weekend Dog Blogging

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Ok so since I have been a bit dormant since returning from the becah I thought I would atleast post a cute picture of our dogs for Sweetnicks Weekend Dog Blogging.

This is our renegade Sasha after a jaunt in our muddy backyard…lovely. Our sweet lab Bella is on the right checking out the mischief. We have had some wicked storms this weekend and Bella is deathly afraid of thunder so she has been a wreck all weekend.

I shall resume normal blogging this week, the in-laws are coming over for a belated Easter dinner tonight and I am trying out all new recipes…yikes!

Goodbye Sweet Georgie

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Dear Georgie,
I woke up with morning with a broken heart because I knew that you were no longer with us here on earth. Our family has lost a member, an unlikely member when we first picked you up 12 years ago. You were young and somewhat scared, but you quickly fit into family tree. Your love for the tennis balls and any kind of cheese was never ending, and we will always remember the “I feel good runs” you did in the backyard when you were excited.

But then time took it’s toll and old age set in, you couldn’t quite keep up with the younger dogs, but you certainly tried. They learned so much from you. But we knew you weren’t happy, you weren’t our Georgie anymore, we could see you pain and the hardest thing for us was to let you move on. No one was prepared to make this hard decision but we could see in your eyes that you were ready to go.

I miss you so much already, your sweet face and quiet disposition will always be remembered. And I don’t think I will ever sneeze without thinking about your constant concern for us. I know we will all meet again one day, but until then we must learn to live with your loss and take it day by day, knowing you are now happy.

You were such a good dog to us and I hope you know we will always love you.

Weekend Dog Blogging

Sunday, February 5th, 2006

OK so I have been busy preparing for our annual “Jen and Ev’s Super Super Bowl Party” so I have neglected to update in a few days, but don’t worry I will have a complete round up of tonight’s events!

In the meantime here is my entry for Weekend Dog Blogging, which is usually hosted by Sweetnicks but is being conducted this weekend by my girl Alicat.

Doggy Camp

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

So my little sister is out of town which means Aunt Jen and Uncle Ev take in her dog Lexi while she is gone. I really love Lexi and she is an awesome dog, she is just so full of energy! Our dogs have mellowed out a bit, they are hyper at times but at night they chill out nicely. Lexi on the other hand is on the go all the time. It’s not like an annoying hyper though, she just plays alot with our sheprad mix Sasha alot.

We are lucky enough to have a decnt size backyard for the dogs to romp around in. The bad part is, we don’t have alot of grass, between to weird irrigation in our backyard and that damned North Carolina clay, he have had some challenges getting our grass to grow. Therefore whenever it rains it is a mud pit for days. We could probably do some killer mud wrestling back there.

Well as luck would have it it has rained the last 2 out of 3 days. Mind you, we have been in a drought all summer, I can’t remember the last good rain we had, and it now decides to rain. So Sasha and Lexi run laps around the downstairs and our poor lab Bella just lays under the coffee table, trying to stay away from the madness.

So we are hoping it dries up a bit this weekend so they can play more outside, in the meantime, I have a nice layer of clay on my kitchen floor. Ah the joys of pet ownership….I wouldn’t trade them in for anything!
