Nestle has a new baking chocolate coming out and I am quite excited! So click the link below and get a free bag. If you don’t bake you can bring me the bag and I will make something with it (This is a hint to the people I work with!)

I am employed!

Friday, August 4th, 2006

Well I have always been employed but now I have a real, big girl job in an office! I never thought I would be happy about this, but I actually am. The last 9 months have been interesting and I definitely learned alot about myself but now it’s time to get to work and be a productive part of the business world. I start Tuesday but don’t worry I will still be posting- probably more of my quick weeknight meal creations and a few desserts (there are two pregnant women in the office!)

And now…we celebrate!

New Diggs

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

So Evan was feeling a bit cramped in his office so he kicked me out…but decided to move my computer and his fancy flat panel monitor to our kitchen! Yes, indeed the kitchen is my favorite room in the house (though my bedroom is coming in close second these days, since I don’t see enough of it!) so why not put it where I am most often- or I should say where I want to be most often. It really is perfect, I don’t have to schelp upstairs after work to check e-mail, now I can have a clementine and peruse the web right next to our sliding glass doors so I can keep an eye on the mutts. Hopefully this means I will post more often too! I have a cake order this week that I will share as well as my completed cake for my Wilton II class next Tuesday, yeah I have cakes on the brains these days! I also have a review of a cookbook I was asked to write about…so stay tuned for more!

Random…

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

1. I was supposed to do a cupcake job the weekend after Easter and I was so excited and spent a couple hours this weekend testing recipes (even made fondant!) but she called today to cancel because she decided she wanted a cake instead :( I am kinda bummed but I will put the new recipes to good use and make individual egg shaped cakes for Easter…so it will all work out. But I am still disappointed.

2. I have a new crush. Evan loves Giada, I have Johnny. Johnny Damon that is…the new centerfielder for the Yankees. I always thought he looked like a homeless guy when he played for the Red Sux, but now that he has cleaned up for the pinstripes he is a HOTTIE! I DVR-ed Letterman last night because he was on and woah! His arms are amazing…I love men’s muscular arms…Evan has great arms :)

3. We had the in-law-dogs for the weekend while the in-laws were in Florida, they were really good even though it was crazy having 4 dogs in the house ranging from 13 years to 2 years! Yikes! Well they went home today but we have taken in another pooch, Darcy, an adorable 10 week old black lab. Our friend just got her but has developed an awful allergy to her so we are being foster parents until she can find a new home.

4. We are going to the Outer Banks this weekend for Easter (and some business for Evan), we get to stay in an awesome house and enjoy some time off. Much needed after some long mornings/day that are coming up at the bakery. I can’t wait!

5. We discovered tonight that we do not like corned beef brisket. I made one for dinner for tonight, and it tasted like chewy ham…very salty and not appetizing. It was pretty cheap so I didn’t mind too much but we ended up going out to grab a bite for dinner.

6. Tommorrow night we are going to see Michael Buble in concert. Evan got great tickets for our anniversary (even though we were NOT exchanging gifts!) We danced to one of his songs for our first dance. I couldn’t tell you the last concert I saw! I am very excited!

ode to the wife

Sunday, April 9th, 2006

I am taking over this blog for a minute to let all of Jen’s Interweb friends know that I love her very much. For those of you who do not know her beyond this blog, I will tell you she does more then cook amazing treats to keep me stuffed and you entertained.

I probably should tell her more often how much I appreciate everything she does and everything she is. She is the most caring and loving person I know and everyday I feel more lucky to be married to her (1 year 29 days).

I joke around a lot and give her a hard time, but it’s only because she is my best friend and I love her very much. I don’t think anyone could put up with someone as childish as me, let alone love me for it.

She means the world to me and I wanted other people who are part of her life, online and off to know.

I love you Jen!

1 year down….

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

It’s so cliche, but so true…time flies by so fast! I cannot believe we have been man and wife for a whole year. I never thought our wedding day would come, after a 15 month engagement, I couldn’t wait any longer! Our wedding day really was perfect, I could not have asked for more. Being surrounding by our friends and family was truly surreal, especially considering all of the miles they traveled.

Then there was the honeymoon, what started as an absolute travel nightmare turned into a wonderul relaxing 10 days exploring beautiful islands and eating way too many desserts.

I don’t think either of us expected the coming months to develop the way they did. I think we learned more about ourselves and our relationship during that time, and as hard as it was it truly made us stronger as a couple.

Through it all, I am still crazy about you. I still think about our first kiss in Italy and I still get those butterflies. I love your zest for life and that little kid that is still inside of you. I am excited about the traveling that is ahead of us, and the kids that we will raise and the life we have left to live together.

Thank you for being a wonderful man, a wonderful husband and a wonderful friend.

I love you Evan.

Cooking with Ruth

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

I volunteered to help Ruth with recipe testing for her cookbook. (I am so jealous! I want to write a cookbook!) Well I somehow forgot that I was leaving for a week long trip to London! Duh! So I had to get on the ball because Ruth is a very busy woman and has many recipes to get through. So Sunday was “testing” day. I had breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack with her recipes. What a day! Needless to say I was pooped but the fruits of my labor were well worth it. All of her recipes were super simple and so yummy!

By now I know you are jealous and you want to help Ruth test some recipes, so here is the info and trust me…you won’t be sorry!

On another note…I have hit my 100th post! Wow! Who knew I could talk so much!

Lesson of the Day

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

Don’t even try a new faux finish paint technique on your living room walls when you are pissed off. It will never look the way you want it and you will just waste an entire weekend afternoon and lots of paint.
